Rob Woodman

Xilarate is the brainchild of Rob Woodman who, after returning from Europe, has become a resident of the Central Coast, NSW. Rob is an accomplished sailor and sailmaker with seventeen years experience in sailmaking, and twenty three years experience in windsurfing, competitive dinghy sailing and offshore racing and cruising.

Until starting Xilarate, Rob has been the Senior Sailmaker for North Sails Sydney and the General Manager of Quantum Golfe du St. Tropez, France, where he managed all general operations including design, quality control, retail sales, customer service, technical consulting, general administration, scheduling and quoting. He has worked for North, Quantum and Doyle as a technical consultant, designer and production consultant and has built sails for the premier racing yachts from Australia and overseas.  Rob was the junior national fireball dinghy champion two years running (1994, 1995) and a seasoned ocean racer with a host of wins to his name.

Rob is also a boarding enthusiast with a twenty two year long passion for windsurfing and a more recent love of kiting and snowboarding. His expertise as a sailmaker has given him real insight into the technical needs of wind and kitesurfing but his own love of these sports gives Xilarate an extra dimension.
